Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our growing UK wide client seeks a qualified accountant to join them as a Group Finance Manager, on a permanent basis with very flexible hybrid arrangements.
This job would suit a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant to be responsible for delivering accurate management and financial reporting, overseeing VAT compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the finance function. The role is a stand-alone role with the Group Finance Director continuing to manage the team of 10 but with the aim that this person will take on that responsibility in the future.

This growing £35M turnover national business working with a major international client base is predicting further growth over the next few years. Since covid they have successfully driven their strategy to ensure they have flexibility around economic conditions and this is hugely helped them in a competitive market environment. They offer a collaborative and forward-thinking environment for their team and have an extremely stable finance team as a result. They are looking to implement a new finance system over the next six months and this will open up the opportunity to drive new initiatives and ideas into the department.
The successful individual will be a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified accountant with good financial accounting knowledge in critical areas such as balance sheet, P&L, statutory accounts etc. It is expected that the individual will have strong Excel skills and good competencies in attention to detail, working to deadlines, accuracy and working with others including senior stakeholders.
Job responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
* Review and validate general ledger coding, and maintain the chart of accounts
* Deliver monthly MI packs and support department heads in quarterly cost reviews
* Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes and lead on statutory audit preparation
* Prepare VAT returns, Intrastat and import returns, ensuring compliance and accuracy
* Maintain and validate accounting controls in line with regulatory requirements
* Support payroll and pension reconciliations, including P11Ds and recharges
* Manage intercompany transactions and internal recharges
* Collaborate with the Group Finance Director on finance-related projects and audits
* Support transactional finance teams and provide ad hoc financial support as needed
* Focus on continuous improvement of systems, automation, and reporting processes
