Department
ISER is a social science research institute based at the University of Essex with approximately 80 research, survey, IT, support and administrative staff. The institute’s activities are primarily supported by research contracts with funders from outside the University, including the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), government departments and other agencies. ISER has a long-standing reputation for the successful management of longitudinal surveys delivering social science data to the research community.
tracks changes in people’s lives over time – following everyone from an initial sample covering 40,000 households across the UK. It plays a pivotal role in generating data that enables researchers and policymakers to understand the changing lives of people.
Duties of the role
ISER now wishes to appoint a Survey Data Officer to work closely with other members of the team, in particular those responsible for data processing, data release, data linkage and questionnaire design, as well as liaising with members of the wider ISER community.
You will also work with partner organisations, namely those involved with the delivery of data to ISER.
Qualifications and skills required
The successful candidate should hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or have equivalent qualifications/experience.
You should also have demonstrable experience of data analysis, statistical and survey related software packages and a willingness to work within other computing environments or operating systems.
