The University of Cambridge is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in the UK, employing more than 13,000 staff in a wide range of academic, research and professional services roles. Occupational Health is central to meeting the University’s legal responsibilities and its commitment – under its People Strategy – to staff health and wellbeing. It is responsible for the provision of occupational health services and strategies for the prevention of ill health, and promotion of health and wellbeing amongst University staff, including postgraduate / research staff, and some undergraduate student groups, i.e. medical, veterinary and PGCE (teaching) students.
Meeting these needs requires effective leadership of Occupational Health by a professional and experienced Occupational Health Nurse (the Service Manager), ensuring a high standard of service delivery complaint with clinical practice and standards. The Occupational Health Service Manager leads and oversees provision of occupational services to the University, directing a team of nine occupational health professionals (nurses, advisors and technicians), working alongside five contracted NHS Doctors, and externally contracted clinicians, in addition to close working with other University departments such as the Safety Office, Human Resources and Staff Counselling.
The Service Manager has overall responsibility for delivery of occupational health services that meet the requirements of the University, including statutory requirements under health, safety and employment law, and to help maintain the health and wellbeing of the work force so they can work effectively and to the best of their ability, ensuring that health related problems are effectively managed.

Role 2 - Occupational Health Clinic Nurse (Part Time 0.8 FTE)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time clinic nurse to join the University of Cambridge's small but busy Occupational Health team. The Occupational Health Service provides a compliance-based service to all University staff and postgraduate students, and some undergraduate student groups and its broad remit is to prevent work-associated ill health and to promote health at work. In doing so it works alongside other University central services such as the Safety Office.
The role includes the screening of professionally regulated students i.e., Medical, Veterinary & PGCE (teacher) students, and staff undertaking research in the NHS, routine health surveillance, work related immunisations and health promotion. Reporting to the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser you will carry out immunisation, phlebotomy and health screening to staff and some student groups. You will be expected to manage your own clinics, have excellent organisational skills and the self-confidence to work independently, with access to clinical advice as needed. Effective communication and team working skills together with confident use of standard IT systems including ‘Microsoft Office’ are essential. Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) within the adult branch.
