Job Summary
Exciting opportunity for a committed, professional Receptionist within the Radiology department at Wythenshawe Hospital and Withington Community Hospital. The role supports clinical teams by managing patient scheduling, welcoming, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
* Schedule patients on Trust systems within specified timescales.
* Greet patients on attendance and check patient details for correct identification.
* Deal with queries, sign‑post patients and visitors to relevant areas, and provide appropriate information.
* Collect, distribute, and manage incoming mail in a timely manner.
* Attend patients on the Trust IT systems in accordance with departmental and Trust policies.
* Communicate delays to patients (e.g., room closures) and liaise with clinician staff to make informed decisions.
* Ensure patients and visitors are comfortable and seated in the correct waiting areas.
* Handle ambulance bookings and follow escalation procedures for long waits.
* Deal with all telephone enquiries in a polite and courteous manner.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming reception area at all times.
* Maintain an accurate and efficient administrative system for all clinical records and appointments.
* Insert data onto Trust systems, maintain diaries, and make appointments per local policies and procedures.
* Perform any other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential
* GCSE in English & Mathematics or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience working with public in a face‑to‑face customer relations role.
* Knowledge of IT systems.
* Knowledge of data protection.
* Effective time‑management skills.
* Ability to prioritise tasks.
* Excellent telephone manner.
* Appropriate keyboard skills.
* Able to cope with pressure and change.
* Display a professional attitude.
* Ability to travel to all sites.
Desirable
* Relevant level 2 qualification (NVQ, apprenticeship, etc.).
* Previous experience in a health‑care setting.
* Experience working in a confidential environment.
* Ability to work within a team.
