The Barnet Early Intervention in Psychosis service is currently seeking to recruit an Associate Mental Health Worker to join the team based in Barnet North London. Working within this area of mental health care for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis can be very exciting and rewarding. The main function of the Service is to assess and where appropriate meet the continuing social and mental health needs of people who experience a first episode of psychosis.
We aim to provide a specialist service, for the early identification, assessment and treatment of people between the ages of 18 to 65 years who present with a first episode of psychosis.
We are currently seeking to recruit a Band '4' Associate Mental Health Worker. Thepost is opened to staff with experiential learning through working experience as a Health Care Assistance, Band 3 in a mental health setting and who meet the skills set in the attached specification for Band 4. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care/services to patients and service users as part of a Multi-disciplinary Mental Health Care Team, working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered member of staff. They will be responsible for carrying out practical tasks, identified as part of the patient's and service users care plan or care pathways.
The post holder will provide supportive care management to an allocated group of service users as delegated by the Team Manager or registered practitioner.
The post holder will be working in the community team in line with service needs.
The post holder will receive clinical/management supervision as appropriate and partake in reflective practice/training on a regular basis.

Job responsibilities
Undertake a range of duties which involve direct patient care, under supervision following competency assessment
Assist in the coordination of care delivery for a case load of service users in the community with mental health problems including those with severe and enduring mental illness under the supervision of a registered professional, in close collaboration with the Service Line, psychiatric multidisciplinary team, service users and other community agencies.
Contribute to the monitoring of the physical environment ensuring that it is safe and conducive to the therapeutic work of the community setting.
Have informed knowledge and understanding in the psychological, social, physical and spiritual needs of all service users
Actively participate in the care and rehabilitation of service users as per the plan of care determined by registered practitioner
Maintain clear, timely, comprehensive, and contemporaneous written clinical records on all patients under your care in accordance with Trust Records Management Policies.
Using Dialogue Plus tool to assess service users health and social care needs.
Utilise designated recovery tool with outcomes focusing on care planning and ensuring clients understand they will be worked with in a collaborative manner to engage in social inclusion activities such as seeking employment, education and independent living.
Support the assessment and management of patient care needs through initial data collection, monitoring of patients progress, feedback, discussion, and reports and in care reviews with the clinical team.
Provide information relating to health promotion and associated activities to improve the well-being of service users.
Provide patients and their carers with a service that is culturally sensitive and gives due consideration to any special needs
Demonstrate an understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 as amended 2007, and other legislation such as Safeguarding Children & Adults, DOLS, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and others relating to care of service users.
Contributes towards the ongoing quality of service and care and identifies any risk issues in relation to the patients/ clients health and social care
To be able to work and travel across a geographical area or across integrated teams.

b) any significant factors relevant to the patient / client

Special Requirement
* Ability to work flexibly and a self directed manner
* Car driver/owner with full driver's licence
Qualifications
* A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or HNC/HND or equivalent diploma
* Experiential learning through two years (minimum) working experience as a Health Care Asst, Band 3 in a mental health setting e.g Forensic, Acute Inpatient Setting, Community Mental Health Team & etc.
Knowledge and skills
* Ability to work under pressure in acute situations with minimal supervision.
* To demonstrate an awareness of a wide range of skills including interventions specific to this service users group.
* Demonstrate past experience of working with people with psychosis .
