Offer description

Enhanced Teaching Assistant Grade 5, £26,403 - £28,598 pro rata Fixed Term, term time only plus 2 weeks, 37 hours per week Required from 01.09.26 until 31.08.27 Start With Why At Seaview Primary School, everything we do begins with a clear purpose: We exist to empower every child to shape their own future. To do more, know more, and be more. Our children deserve adults who believe in them relentlessly. Many of the families we serve face significant disadvantage, and we believe that makes our work more important, not more difficult. We do not lower expectations; we raise the level of support, care and commitment. Our approach is rooted in equity — ensuring every child receives what they need to succeed, not simply the same as everyone else. If your values align with this purpose, we invite you to read on. How We Work Simon Sinek writes that great organisations inspire people by being clear about why they exist. At Seaview: • We work hard because our children deserve nothing less. • We support one another because schools succeed through teamwork. • We act with integrity because trust is the foundation of a strong community. • We focus on service — our work is about children and families, not ourselves. Every adult in our school plays a crucial role in helping children feel safe, valued and capable of success. Teaching assistants at Seaview are not simply supporting learning. They are helping to change life chances. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support children’s learning in the classroom and through targeted interventions. • Help create calm, purposeful learning environments. • Build positive relationships that help children feel safe and confident. • Support pupils with additional needs so they can fully access school life. • Work closely with teachers to ensure every child receives the support they need. Your influence will be felt every day — in small moments that help children grow in confidence, independence and ambition. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking someone who: • Has a strong moral purpose and believes education can transform lives. • Works hard and takes pride in doing the right thing. • Acts with integrity, honesty and professionalism. • Is dependable and trusted by colleagues, children and families. • Puts the needs of children before their own comfort or convenience. • Understands that supporting disadvantaged communities requires commitment, empathy and resilience. • Believes every child deserves the chance to succeed. Experience is important, but character and values matter just as much. What You Will Find at Seaview • A school with a clear and ambitious vision. • A supportive and united staff team. • Leaders who value professionalism, commitment and integrity. • Children who will benefit enormously from adults who believe in them. • The opportunity to be part of something meaningful. We are not just recruiting for a role. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a shared mission. If you believe that every child deserves opportunity. If you believe that hard work, kindness and integrity matter. If you believe schools should serve their communities with pride — We would be proud to receive your application. Do more. Know more. Be more. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, if successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure. As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required. Applicants must hold a qualification that meets the approved ‘full and relevant’ criteria for Early Years qualifications and inclusion in staffing ratios. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following: • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus • Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days) Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example: Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) 27 days (annual leave) 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) 32 days (annual leave) 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments Closing date: 02.04.26 Interview date: W/C 20.04.26 Seaview Primary School The Avenue Seaham SR7 8PD Tel: 0191 5813974 Email: office@seaviewprimary.com Website: https://www.seaviewprimary.com/ VPRS/161
