Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) - Luton
Are you an experienced and passionate Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) ready for your next rewarding challenge? A well-established secondary school in Luton is seeking a committed QTOD to join its dedicated specialist provision team, supporting deaf students aged 11-16 to thrive academically and socially.
About The Role
As a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) based in Luton, you will:
* Deliver high-quality teaching and learning tailored to students with severe to profound hearing loss, including those with cochlear implants and hearing aids.
* Support students in mainstream classes and small group sessions, using both British Sign Language (BSL) and auditory/oral approaches as appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with Education Communicators (ECs), subject teachers, audiologists, and speech & language therapists to provide joined-up support.
* Monitor and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure progress and identify areas for further intervention.
* Build positive relationships with families, encouraging communication, collaboration, and consistency across home and school settings.

What You'll Need
* A recognised Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) status.
* Recent experience working within a secondary setting supporting hearing-impaired students.
* A strong working knowledge of BSL (minimum Level 2 preferred) and experience using a total communication approach.
* The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and to differentiate learning materials effectively.
* A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and professional development.
