Astutes Power Team are recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor for a new build Energy from Waste Power Station located in Cheshire. As a Health and Safety Advisor you will be responsible for all H&S activities on site ranging from inspections, audits, training, coordination, and reviewing / management of EHS documents.
This role sits within part of a wider HSE team, and you may be expected to support elsewhere within the business.

Responsibilities and duties of the Health and Safety Advisor role:
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Compliance, you will be responsible for:
Developing and managing the safety programmes, procedures and safe systems of work including risk assessment / accident reporting system.
Driving health and safety excellence through delivering the sites Health & Safety communications.
Monitoring the performance of the plants health & safety program and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness.
Liaising with external bodies.
Carry out on site audits and investigations.
Developing a strong H&S culture.
Manage and update the sites H&S systems.
Coordinate emergency response training.
Providing H&S training for O&M staff.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Ideally degree qualified in a technical / environmental background
Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate is required as a minimum for this position.
Personal skills
The Health and Safety Advisor role would suit someone who:
At least 5 years' experience in a similar position on a power station or similar plant. This could be Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP or Nuclear. Similar Heavy Process Industries will be considered (Papermill, Refinery, Petrochemical etc)
Familiarity with safe systems of work, safety rules and similar safe working practices
IT literate
Confident in delivering training programmes and communicating key messages
