The opportunity
EY works with the world’s largest Private Equity funds supporting them to acquire, transform, and sell assets. A number of our largest UK & EMEIA headquartered funds are required to adhere to SEC Independence restrictions. This in turn requires EY to proactively monitor and manage all work that we engage on with those funds (including at the asset level) to ensure compliance with SEC, EU PIE & UK PIE/OEPI, and EY independence requirements.
This position offers significant scope to improve and optimize processes.
Your key responsibilities
* Oversight of requested EY’s GIS updates and maintenance, including answering questions from Global Delivery Services (India-based shared service centre), account teams, independence leaders, and ensuring requests are processed promptly.
* Initial review of Quarterly Independence Summary Memo (ISM) and supporting documents. Collaborate with Independence Senior Associate and GDS to ensure engagement partners respond timely to quarterly independence confirmation requests, acting as a point of escalation.
* Support PACE questionnaires, assisting engagement teams with responses.
* Monitor press and industry news for acquisitions and disposals across focus accounts.
* Set up appropriate structures for each account to ensure teams meet regulatory requirements.
* Maintain documentation and promote independence procedures related to Private Equity.
* Coordinate with PE Independence & Compliance Senior Manager on complex regulatory issues and resolve them.
* Ensure indicators are set for investees with US-listed instruments and reflect appropriate channels.
* Collaborate with US counterparts to share best practices and develop process efficiencies.
* Perform sense checks on revenues (PEAR) vs SOWs/PACEs, GFIS checks, and test ELs for SEC compliance.
* Follow up on controlled entities with overseas EY firms to ensure awareness of requirements and issue identification.
Skills and attributes for success
Desired
* Qualified accountants or auditors with strong knowledge of independence principles.
* Experience in private equity or investment banking risk management or compliance (preferred but not essential).
* Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
* Stakeholder influence skills at all levels.
