1:1 Support Worker – Schools (Birmingham) Location: Birmingham City Centre Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Flexible Salary: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing The Role ABC Teachers are recruiting 1:1 Support Workers to work across a range of mainstream and specialist SEND schools in the City Centre of Birmingham. As a 1:1 Support Worker, you will work directly with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive socially and emotionally. You will provide personalised support tailored to the needs of individual children, supporting learning, behaviour, communication, and personal development. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEND support, SEMH, autism, care work, youth work, or mentoring, or for those seeking a rewarding role in education. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one support for pupils with SEND or SEMH needs Support learning, communication, social skills and engagement in lessons Assist with personal care and daily routines as required Support behaviour strategies and promote positive outcomes Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement individualised plans Encourage confidence, independence and social interaction The School Environment Schools supported by ABC Teachers offer: Small class sizes and supportive learning environments Specialist and mainstream provisions for children with SEND, SEMH, ASC, and complex needs Structured, inclusive, and nurturing classrooms A collaborative and experienced staff team You will be joining schools that prioritise safety, wellbeing, and tailored learning for every pupil. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience supporting pupils in a school, care or youth setting A caring, patient, and proactive approach Confidence in supporting learning, behaviour, and personal care Strong communication and teamwork skills A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Training and ongoing CPD are provided for those new to school-based 1:1 support roles.
