Overview
We are looking to recruit a Fixed Term Locum Consultant General Radiologist with a subspecialist interest in Paediatric Imaging. The role will be shared between Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Sherwood Forest Hospitals, requiring work across both sites. The successful candidate will provide specialist reporting for acute and elective paediatric cases and will contribute to the development of the paediatric acute services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist reporting for acute and elective paediatric cases.
- Work within a shared reporting team, balancing acute, oncology and general reporting duties.
- Offer expert clinical opinion on a range of radiological investigations, including acute imaging.
- Treat patients with caring professionalism and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Teach clinical skills and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate residents.
- Use RIS, PACS and online patient record systems (e.g., SystmOne, Nerve Centre).
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- MBBS / MBBCh and FRCR qualification.
- Paediatric Imaging sub‑specialist training.
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of application.
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for a UK CCT in general radiology.
- Independent at paediatric sonography and plain film reporting.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Basic IT skills for RIS and PACS usage.
- Experience in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate residents.
- Effective communication skills and a caring attitude towards patients.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Special interest or additional qualifications in other areas of clinical radiology.
- Higher degree.
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register.
- Formal teaching qualifications.
- Formal training in human factors and patient safety investigations (e.g., PSIRF, SJR).
- Formal NHS leadership or management training.
- 5 years of supervised senior training in an appropriate ST equivalent programme.
- Experience in a similar post.
- Clinical leadership experience or training.
- Previous experience using online patient record systems (e.g., SystmOne, Nerve Centre).
- Motivational, leadership and flexibility skills.
