Multi-Skilled Engineering Apprentice
Location: Near Selby
Pay: £10.85 - £12.71 per hour (dependent on National Minimum Wage age group)
Contract: Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent following a successful probation period
Hours: Full-time
Shift Pattern
Rotating shifts are effected by the seasons. Covering 6am to 2pm / 2pm to 10pm /10pm to 6am. On a 3-on/4-off and 4-on/3 off basis.
Training & Development
* Attend college in Selby one day per week from September

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules.
* Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
* Provide technical support to production teams to minimise operational downtime.
* Perform both mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
* Conduct safety checks and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
* Assist with the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
* Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to resolve engineering issues efficiently.
* Contribute to site-wide engineering projects and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical engineering.
* Ability to diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based systems.
* Familiarity with maintenance management systems and engineering documentation.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with good attention to detail.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications and Experience
* Level 3 qualification (or above) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
* Additional equipment or industry-specific certifications (desirable).
* Experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
* Experience with planned and reactive maintenance activities.
* Hands-on experience with fault-finding and root cause analysis.
* Experience working with automated equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, or similar systems.
