Job Description
The Junior Bid Writer will support the creation of high‑quality formal bids and tenders, including contributing to Expressions of Interest, Requests for Information, Pre‑Qualification Questionnaires, and Invitations to Tender.
You will assist in producing accurate and timely bid submissions by gathering information from internal teams, helping to structure content, and ensuring responses are clear, engaging, and compliant with client requirements.
This role is ideal for someone with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn within a fast‑paced environment where deadlines are key.
Job Requirements
Essential:
* Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Good research and analytical abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work undertime pressure and managing competing deadlines.
* High attention to detail and good organisational skills.
* Valid UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
* Some exposure to bid writing, proposal writing, or similar administrative/communications roles.
* Awareness of bid and proposal best practices (e.g., APMP, Shipley) or interest in developing this knowledge.
* Basic understanding of sectors such as DNOs, EV charging, or engineering is beneficial but not essential.
* Familiarity with CRM systems or proposal management tools.
Job Responsibilities
Writing & Content Creation
* Support the research, writing, and editing of high-quality proposal content to meet client requirements.
* Help tailor written responses to suit the client’s needs and the opportunity.
* Assist in maintaining and updating a library of bid content, templates, and case studies.
Bid Coordination & Support
* Contribute to storyboarding, answer planning, and quality-focused narrative development.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Commercial, Design, Operations) to gather accurate and relevant information.
* Help organise and coordinate bid activities, including timelines, checklists, and submission requirements.
* Assist in ensuring all deadlines are met and submissions are delivered on time.
Quality & Compliance
* Carry out initial quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a professional tone within proposals through the tender lifecycle.
* Ensure all submissions comply with client instructions and internal quality standards.
* Contribute to post‑bid reviews to identify improvements and support continuous development of bid materials.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand solutions, services, and business objectives.
* Support team meetings, workshops, or discussions related to bids and proposals.
