Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate MRI Radiographer to join our medical imaging team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating MRI scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety, and supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate MRI equipment to acquire diagnostic images in accordance with clinical protocols.
* Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
* Verify patient identification and confirm examination orders.
* Administer contrast agents when required, following safety protocols.
* Monitor and communicate with patients during scans to ensure they remain calm and still.
* Maintain accurate patient records and complete all necessary documentation.
* Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment and report malfunctions.
* Ensure adherence to MRI safety policies, especially related to the magnetic field.
* Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with infection control policies.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Degree or diploma in Radiography or Medical Imaging.
* Certification and registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., HCPC in the UK, ARRT in the USA, or local equivalent).
* Postgraduate training or certification in MRI.
* Proven experience operating MRI systems (1.5T and/or 3T preferred).
* Strong understanding of MRI physics, anatomy, and imaging protocols.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
* Experience with multiple MRI platforms (e.g., Siemens, GE, Philips).
* Basic life support (BLS) certification.
* Knowledge of RIS/PACS systems.
Working Conditions:
* Rotational shifts, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
* Potential exposure to magnetic fields and clinical environments.
* Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and assisting patients with mobility.
