Job Title: Humanities Teacher
Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday
Rota: Monday 8.15am – 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday 8.15am – 3.45pm
Salary: Up to £42,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: May 2026

About the Role

As a Humanities Teacher, you will inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 to 5 through engaging teaching in subjects such as History, Geography, Politics, and Religious Education. Working with learners who may have a range of SEND needs—including ADHD, ASD and trauma‑related barriers—you will create a supportive, adaptive and trauma‑informed classroom environment where every student can succeed. This role is ideal for a calm, compassionate professional with high expectations and a passion for helping young people grow academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

* Teach Humanities subjects across Key Stages 3–5, ensuring high‑quality curriculum delivery aligned with national standards.
* Plan creative and engaging lessons, assess pupil progress and maintain accurate records to address any underperformance.
* Support the pastoral, social, and emotional needs of students, prioritising wellbeing and safeguarding.
* Adapt teaching to meet diverse cognitive and SEN needs within a trauma‑informed, holistic framework.
* Contribute to Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Plans, ensuring personalised support for each student.
* Build strong working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers, attending meetings and ensuring consistent communication.
* Take part in wider school life, including extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.

Requirements & Qualifications

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential teaching qualification.
* Subject Knowledge: Strong expertise across Humanities subjects.
* Experience: Proven success teaching from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, with evidence of strong pupil progress.
* Skills: Effective classroom management, empathy and the ability to create a nurturing, inclusive and safe learning environment.
* Full UK Driving Licence
