Applications are invited from experienced phlebotomists to work within the established phlebotomy team at Furness General Hospital.
You will work within the team to ensure the provision of a phlebotomy service to inpatient wards and the pathology clinic.
This is an interesting position, and you will join a team that provides a service combining a unique mix of duties in a busy but friendly department.
This will be a fixed-term contract from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026.
Normal working hours are 16 per week.

Phlebotomists are responsible for collecting blood via venepuncture for a wide range of pathological analyses.
Work is managed daily, not under direct supervision.
The post holder will work as part of a team to ensure Clinical Accreditation is maintained.
The post holder will comply with local and national policies for the safe and secure processing of patient information.
Under the direction of the phlebotomy supervisor or the Head of Pathology Services, you will ensure a high-quality service is delivered to the Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other users.
All duties will be performed to a professional standard, following national, trust, and pathology service policies and procedures.
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI provide a range of general hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various specialist services.
WGH offers general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and facilities for non-life-threatening conditions.
All hospitals provide outpatient, diagnostic, therapy, day case, and inpatient services. Community outreach services and diagnostics are also provided across Morecambe Bay.
Community services for adults are delivered in homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices, and hospitals, aiming to support independence and health management.
