Your new role
You will work within a highly motivated team and provide important contributions to deliverables such as protected species risk assessments, Habitat Management Plans, Ecological Management Plans and Habitats Regulations Appraisals (HRA).
Responsibilities:
Designing and performing ecological surveys including Phase 1/ UK Habs surveys, bats, otters, great crested newt, water voles, and badgers
Carrying out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and preparing baseline ecological reports
Working on Bioidiversity Net-Gain Plans
Collating and reviewing ecological information for desk studies
Conducting Ecological Clerk of Works
What you'll need to succeed
Experience of working in an ecology-related job, ideally within the environmental consultancy sector
An undergraduate ecology or related degree
Have experience of using the DEFRA metric to achieve BNG and proposing enhancements/creation of habitats while understanding limitations
Good working knowledge of environmental legislation and planning policy
Membership of or working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
Experience in designing, undertaking and leading ecological surveys for protected species
Experience in conducting extended Phase 1 and UK Habs surveys
Experience in writing and delivering high quality technical reports such as baseline reports Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and ecological mitigation strategies
GIS and digital data manipulation and analysis experience
Willingness to work flexibly, involving travel within the UK and overnight stays where necessary
Clean full UK driving licence
Desirable:
One or more protected species licences
Experienced in botanical identification
