We are seeking a motivated and reliable Driver/General Operative to join our Waste Management team within Public Protection and Environmental Services.
In this essential role, you will: Keep Newport Clean: Perform daily street cleansing tasks, ensuring our city is clean and welcoming for residents and visitors. Drive for Success: Operate council vehicles safely and efficiently, following all driver handbook guidelines. Champion Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including wearing the proper uniform and protective gear. Be a Team Player: Supervise fellow Cleansing Operatives, working together to achieve daily targets. Provide Excellent Service: Interact with the public professionally and courteously, addressing inquiries and resolving issues effectively.
What You'll Need: Essential: A full, current UK driving licence. Desirable: Experience working in a refuse/cleansing environment.
What We Offer: Competitive Hourly Rate: £12.59 ph Regular Schedule: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday to Thursday, 7:30 am - 3:00 pm Friday. (Note: Role requires working a rostered shift pattern, including weekends, bank holidays, and extra-statutory days.) Location: Telford Street, Newport, NP19 0ES
