*Job Overview*
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Locum Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in Metabolic Medicine to join our team at Nottingham Children's Hospital for a 9 month maternity cover post.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and well established multi disciplinary team delivering high quality care to children and young people with both general paediatric and metabolic conditions. The postholder will contribute to the regional development of the metabolic service across the East Midlands, alongside delivering consultant-led general paediatric inpatient and outpatient care.

You will be joining a friendly and forward-thinking service that values clinical excellence, innovation, education, and collaborative working.

Main duties of the job
Provide inpatient and outpatient care to children with inherited metabolic disorders, working alongside a multidisciplinary metabolic team and in partnership with regional colleagues in Leicester.

Contribute To The General Paediatric Service Including:

* Outpatient general paediatric and rapid access clinics
* Participation in the acute paediatric on-call and out-of-hours rota (including evenings and weekends)
* Vetting of GP referrals and provision of advice & guidance

Attend and contribute to weekly metabolic MDTs, ward reviews, and clinical meetings.

Support the delivery of high-quality medical education for undergraduates and postgraduates.

Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, service development and clinical governance.

Collaborate with consultant colleagues to ensure seamless, safe, and timely care for all paediatric patients.

Person specification
Professional Registration
*Essential Criteria*

* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register for general paediatrics
* or be within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of the interview

*Qualifications/Development
Essential criteria*

* MRCPCH or equivalent
* Evidence of Level 3 Safeguarding Children (Paediatric positions only)

Desirable criteria

* Higher Degree - PhD, MD or equivalent

*Clinical Skills/Experience
Essential criteria*

* Accurate assessment of sick children
* Current APLS provider (or within 6 months of expired date)
* Evidence of extensive safeguarding experience
* Evidence of extensive general paediatric experience in a Childrens Hospital setting

Desirable criteria

* Expertise in metabolic medicine or evidence of ability to develop this expertise
* APLS instructor
* Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
* Training in sudden unexpected deaths processes

* Computing and IT skills commensurate with a senior clinician role.
* Commitment to continuing professional development

Teaching, Audit & Research
*Essential Criteria*

* Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit.
* Ability to interpret and apply research findings
* Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.

Desirable criteria

* Experience as a co-investigator or Principal Investigator
* Original research publications
* Higher teaching degree or qualification or training

*Practical Requirements
Essential criteria*

* Full UK Driving licence
* Evidence of Level 3 Safeguarding Children
