Substantive, full‑time position. 10 programmed activities per week plus on‑call. Part‑time may be considered.
Salary
£119,490 – £145,478, aligned with point 04 of the consultant pay scale. Placement on the scale will be reviewed where applicable.
Main Duties
The role plays a vital part in ensuring patients receive comprehensive care and is an integral part of the Calderdale and Kirklees acute pathway. The ward is a 24‑bed mixed‑gender general adult inpatient unit supported by a specialty doctor and three resident doctors.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Higher degree or equivalent in medical education, clinical research, or management.
* Additional clinical qualifications.
Experience
* Excellent knowledge in the specialty.
* Strong clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and broad medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Decision making based on evidence and collaboration.
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Clinical leadership to a multi‑professional team and liaison with a wide range of agencies.
* Relevant specialist and sub‑specialist experience within the NHS or comparable service.
Transport
* Valid UK driving licence.
* GMC registration with licence to practice or will commence application at time of NHS Jobs application.
* In GMC specialist register for general adult psychiatry or within six months of obtaining CCT.
* Approved clinician status within three months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 within three months of appointment.
* In good standing with GMC.
