Finance Manager – Accounting, Capital, Planning & Quality
Are you an ambitious qualified accountant who is looking to develop their career in NHS Wales? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NWSSP Finance Team in the role of Finance Manager – Accounting, Capital, Planning & Quality. Based in our HQ in Nantgarw, Cardiff, the role will provide you with a wide range of experience in financial management across NWSSP. The role requires a hard working, committed individual with financial experience and a good eye for detail who works well as part of a team working to strict deadlines.
We would also consider this as a development opportunity for existing and experienced Finance staff, in line with Annex of the NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.
Applications via Annex will be accepted for candidates who are on final stages of their professional finance CCAB or CIMA qualification. Payment will be in line with Annex % Band in the first year and % Band in the second year, subject to criteria within the development plan being met.Internal Band staff taking up an annex band post would not suffer a detriment to their pay.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Key role to undertake the NWSSP financial and capital accounting functions and to undertake the link role within these areas with the finance team of our host Velindre University NHS Trust including responsibility for VAT, maintaining the integrity of the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals and asset validations are undertaken correctly.
Key role in ensuring the achievement of the NWSSP Capital Expenditure Limit (CEL), providing accurate, timely and reliable financial information to both the Senior Finance Team, Service Directors and Welsh Government regarding capital expenditure including IFRS and to undertake the financial monitoring of the Capital Programme approved by the Senior Leadership Group.
Support financial planning and the production of the NWSSP wide IMTP
Support the co-ordination and monitoring of the finance team IMTP and wider emergency planning for the department
Support the quality agenda across the finance team
Deputise for the NWSSP representative of the All Wales Technical Accounting Group and Capital sub-groups when required, sharing current and upcoming issues as required including the application of any new or updated International Financial Reporting Standards or other statutory changes, assessing the impact for NWSSP and sharing knowledge/training with relevant staff.
