Are you an Assistant Buyer in construction looking for your next career step? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business in Bristol as a Buyer and take on more responsibility within a supportive commercial team.
This role is ideal for an Assistant Buyer who understands construction materials, procurement, and supply chain processes and now wants to progress into a full Buyer position. Youll gain hands-on experience across multiple construction projects, working with suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams to deliver cost-effective purchasing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and lead the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services across construction projects.
* Negotiate supplier agreements and secure best value for the company.
* Raise and process purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance.
* Collaborate with site managers, estimators, and contract managers to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
* Maintain awareness of market trends, material pricing, and alternative suppliers.
* Gain exposure to sustainability initiatives and responsible sourcing practices.
* Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry regulations.
What Were Looking For
* Experience as an Assistant Buyer, Trainee Buyer, or Junior Procurement professional in construction or property services.
* Understanding of construction materials and supply chain processes.
* Good IT skills; knowledge of procurement systems (COINS, Causeway, or similar) is desirable.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* CIPS qualification or willingness to study towards it.
* Enthusiasm to progress into a Buyer role and take on greater responsibility.
