Job title: Café Support Worker.
Location: Larchfield Community, Stokesley Road, Hemlington, Middlesbrough, TS8 9DY.
Purpose: To assist in the Café, conducting front-of-house and kitchen duties so that customers receive a consistently high quality of food and service, whilst supporting vulnerable adults within our Catering Workshops.
Salary: £11.45 per hour.
Hours: 10 hours per week (2.5 hours per day - 11 till 1.30pm - Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri).

Who are we looking for?
* You’re likely to have experience of working within a café environment, but any customer service experience will be considered.
* Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable.
* You’ll need to be physically fit, as some of the work will require lifting and moving of stock or equipment.
* Polite, respectful, and approachable: able to engage and establish rapport with customers and the People We Support.
* A reasonable general education, specifically in numeracy and literacy, is essential.
What are the main responsibilities of this role?
* Cooking and producing delicious and nutritious food using fresh, local, seasonal and organic produce where possible, assisting with menu development and planning.
* Food production within the kitchen, to include occasional special events, party catering and functions.
* Working with the Café Manager and team, manage all aspects of the food chain including: safe storage, preparation, and presentation; purchase cost and portion control; and waste management.
* Cash handling and operating a till system.
* Working to enhance the customer experience through increasing efficiency in working practices, developing a creative, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere and environment, and through promoting an ethos of customer centred service.
* To conduct all aspects of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, and other food service areas.
* To provide customers with their food, beverages, and cutlery and confirming later that they are happy with their order.
* To clear and wipe down tables promptly after use, attend to spillages quickly. Making sure the tables and the surrounding areas are presentable and fully provisioned for new customers.
* To display food on opening in a safe and appealing manner and clear away on closing, cleaning up and storing food appropriately.
* To follow food hygiene and health and safety requirements.
* To contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices in the cafe to ensure statutory requirements are met and the strategic objectives are achieved.
* To continue to develop an exciting day opportunity engaging people in food preparation, producing lunches from scratch with a field to fork ethos. Supporting people in the kitchen to develop independent living skills, ensuring that meaningful and structured opportunities are provided to people we support. Ensuring that all individuals can experience variety and progression with daily objectives for each session. This may involve the instruction of new skills.
* Plan the activities within the session to ensure they are manageable within the given timescales. Ensure that other tasks such as cleaning, stock management and ordering can be completed within the contracted hours.
* Keep all appropriate records and information in an orderly manner and on a timely basis, provide any information and documentation required and prepare regular reports on the workshop activity to help make sure there is accurate and timely information available about the workshop. Including accident reports and maintaining individuals progress plans.
* Undertake such other tasks as required individually or with others to develop and maintain the high quality of service required to fulfil the vision of the community, including for example by actively participating in review meetings and relevant training. At times there will be a need to organise the kitchen workflow to support community events and activities as agreed by line manager.
