Salary: £25,583 - £25,989 PRO RATA

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: part-time, term-time only

Location: Governor meetings are usually held in person at Lyminster Primary School, but we would consider remote working for the right candidate. Administration and preparation can be carried out remotely.

We are seeking to appoint a Clerk to Governors, who will become a key team member of our friendly governing body.

Role Purpose

* To provide advice and guidance to the governing or trust board on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.
* A professional clerk will contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of a governing board and its committees by providing:
* administrative and organizational support
* guidance to ensure that the board works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance
* advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the board.

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

Due to the varied workload, the successful candidate will need to be flexible, well-organised with good administrative skills, as well as have the ability to manage their own time efficiently and prioritise workloads. They must also be able to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality.

They will need to have excellent communication skills and be proficient in using the internet, emailing, and working with Microsoft Applications, including Word and Excel.

Experience of a clerk role is desirable, as well as knowledge of school governance, but full training can be given for the right candidate.

Further Information

The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Body and will be responsible for advising the Governing Body on constitutional matters, duties and powers and will work within the broad current legislative framework.

This is a permanent post for 114 contracted working hours per year (contracted as 3 hours per week) term-time only, with any additional hours claimed. There are approximately 6-8 meetings per year, which are usually held on site and in person, however, we would consider remote working for the right candidate. Additional administration and preparation can be carried out remotely.

Due to the nature of the role, some weeks will require more hours to be worked and other weeks, fewer hours will not to be worked. Therefore, the ability to work flexibility is a necessity.
