The Role
As a Senior Mission Systems Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The role is within our complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process.
Day to day, you’ll be required to contribute to the development and realization of ship designs through the provision of broad technical understanding of Combat, Communications and Navigation Systems and onboard networks and their integration together and integration / installation into Naval Ships.
1. Be responsible for the design and management through design and construction of Mission Systems Compartments (such as Operations Rooms, Communications Offices, Mission and Briefing Spaces as well as mast compartments), as well as the Topside Design of the platform / concept.
2. Provides help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development.
3. Engagement with Customers to develop and agree an unambiguous statement of requirements
4. Support the generation and assessment of the suitability of sensor and weapon suites for concept designs
5. Compartment and or System Ownership through design stages
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, The role is adaptable and can be based at any UK Babcock Hub which includes various sites, including but not limited to Bristol, Devonport, Rosyth, Leicester and Warrington with hybrid working from home arrangements available.
Essential experience of the Senior Mission Systems Engineer
6. Developed knowledge across the Mission System (Communications, Navigation, Command and Control and Sensors / Effectors) ship integration space.
7. Extensive Design experience
8. Good written and verbal communication skills.
9. The role requires an ability to work within a multi-discipline team
Qualifications for the Senior Mission Systems Engineer
10. Ideally degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered.
