Job description Job Title: Children's Support Worker Salary: £28,000 – £31,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Shift Pattern: Mixed shifts – Early and Late shifts (including some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis) Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Children’s Support Worker to join our team supporting young people in a residential setting. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the emotional, social, and educational development of children and young people aged between [Aged 8 –18]. Whether you're looking for a stable full-time role or seeking more flexible opportunities to work around existing commitments, we also have flexible support worker roles available in children’s homes throughout the area. Key Responsibilities: * Provide day-to-day care and support for children and young people in line with their individual care plans * Build trusting, positive relationships with children, promoting their self-esteem and independence * Support with daily routines including getting ready for school, meal preparation, and bedtime routines * Work proactively with colleagues, external professionals, and families to safeguard and promote the welfare of children * Encourage participation in education, leisure activities, and life skills development * Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards * Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour and incidents, following established policies and behaviour management techniques * Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings * Work flexibly to cover a mixture of early and late shifts, including weekends and holidays as part of a rota Requirements: * Experience working with a professional care setting within the UK * Experience in managing and deescalating challenging behaviours * Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills * Ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure * A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a positive difference in their lives * Must be able to work mixed shift patterns, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends What We Offer: * Competitive salary of £28,000 – £31,000 depending on experience * Flexible work available in the area – ideal for fitting around other commitments * Ongoing training and development opportunities * Supportive team environment with regular supervision and progression opportunities * Generous holiday entitlement * Pension scheme * Access to employee assistance programmes and wellbeing initiatives Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: £13.73-£14.00 per hour Benefits: * Company pension * Flexitime Physical Setting: * Residential home Shift: * Day shift * Night shift Application question(s): * Do you have right to work in the UK?
