Summary of Main Responsibilities
To ensure the availability of all production items, support the R&D function, and become a key member of the supply team by:
* Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of Meech products
* Taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing, and the delivery of materials and components
* Involvement in the weekly running of the MPS/MRP from Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
* Placing purchase orders, maintaining accurate inbound delivery dates, and liaising with Production, Customer Service, and Goods-in warehouse
* Controlling free issue items to suppliers for subcontracting
* Ensuring compliance with regulations, quality, OTIF, and cost performance
* Ensuring the MRP/ERP system reflects current trading conditions such as lead times, ordering quantities, and prices
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required
* Proven experience as a buyer within a manufacturing environment, preferably with knowledge of subcontract and direct procurement of fabricated metal, bespoke manufactured parts, including metal and plastic machined components
* Experience in delivering cost savings
* Understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, risk management, ESG, supplier relationship management, and negotiation
* Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Numerate, analytical, and commercially aware
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, etc.)
* Strong experience with MRP/ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
* Excellent organizational skills, high accuracy, attention to detail, and forward thinking
* A CIPS qualification is preferable but not essential
