Steer Automotive Group is expanding our Commercial Vehicle division in Sunderland, and we’re looking for an experienced Paint Technician with a focus on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and commercial fleets. This is a specialist role working on larger vehicles and complex paint finishes, supporting high-quality repairs that restore vehicles to professional road-ready condition.

What You’ll Be Doing
14. Preparing, masking, priming, and painting HGVs and commercial vehicles to manufacturer and company standards
15. Applying a range of commercial and fleet coatings using approved systems and equipment
16. Carrying out large-panel and full-vehicle paintwork with consistent, high-quality finishes
17. Colour matching and blending across large surface areas
18. Working efficiently to meet turnaround targets without compromising quality
19. Maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant paint environment
20. Collaborating with panel, prep, and commercial repair teams to deliver end-to-end repair quality
What We’re Looking For
21. Proven experience as a Paint Technician in a commercial, HGV, or large vehicle bodyshop
22. Strong knowledge of modern paint systems and commercial coating processes
23. Confidence working on large panels and high-build paint applications
24. ATA accreditation (or willingness to achieve) is desirable
25. High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
26. A team-focused, reliable, and professional approach
