About Easthorpe School
At Easthorpe School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for children and young people in the East Midlands. Since opening our doors in November 2022, we have been expanding our team to accommodate the growing number of pupils in our Lower School (ages 7-13).
Our classes are intimate, with no more than six pupils, each supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants. We specialize in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), including various diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to play a pivotal role in shaping our new provision and enriching the lives of our pupils.
Your Role
As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six.
* Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
* Report on pupils' progress and concerns, collaborating with other staff to meet individual needs.
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
* Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
* Set work where appropriate and provide marking support.
* Build positive relationships with your pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
* A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
* Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
* Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
* Skills in behavior management and techniques.
* A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
* A readiness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
