The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a totally collaborative organisation made up of nine partner companies (Anglian Water, SWECO, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, and Skanska) and an extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

Role overview
As a Mechanical Engineer within one of Sweco’s four business units and part of the alliance team, you will bolster mechanical engineering capabilities and contribute fresh ideas to our ways of working.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the preparation and analysis of key mechanical options, for review and agreement with the client and key project stakeholders, ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated while upholding the Project Basis of Design
* Design calculations for sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, power generating, and building services equipment
* Liaise with the supply chain to ensure the latest technologies are assessed as part of optioneering
* Collaborate with the design team to develop 3D models and solutions
* Oversee outputs for processes including P&IDs, data sheets, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and mechanical input into commissioning plans and performance tests
* Support the team in Health & Safety, delivering safe designs in line with CDM Regulations and standards
* Identify and promote opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation and people objectives
About You
You will ideally have:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Extensive practical mechanical design experience in a similar environment
* Proven track record of designing hydraulic and mechanical systems and products
* Understanding of modular build and construction processes and procedures
* Collaboration and teamwork
* Courage to try new things and work differently to safely deliver
Alignment to business units
Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you could be aligned to one of our four business units:
* Place Based Thinking – manages complex catchment-level projects across sites such as Whitlingham, Flag Fen, Great Billing, Cotton Valley, Bedford, Colchester, and Ipswich Cliff Quays.
* Water – supports system performance and infrastructure planning for future hydraulic resilience.
* Water Recycling (East and West) – responsible for wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment across a large network.
