A highly regarded national law firm is seeking a Solicitor to join its expanding Defendant Clinical Negligence team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a solicitor with experience in defendant medical malpractice work who is looking to develop their career within a supportive, high-performing team. The Role Working closely with partners, you will manage your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims, ranging in value and complexity, from initial notification through to trial. You will be exposed to high-quality work for insurer and NHS-related clients and play an active role in the wider team's development. Key responsibilities will include: Managing a caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims from inception to conclusion Assisting partners on complex and high-value matters Liaising with insurer clients, brokers, insured clients, witnesses and other solicitors Instructing experts and counsel as appropriate Managing case diaries and action lists Attending court hearings, conferences, Joint Settlement Meetings (JSMs) and client meetings Drafting correspondence, reports and strategic action plans Supporting the supervision, mentoring, and development of junior team members Ensuring compliance with CPR, rehabilitation protocols, data protection and internal procedures Completing client and firm MI requirements Keeping up to date with legal developments in clinical negligence Meeting agreed financial, chargeable and KPI targets Ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met This role offers you a broad remit and the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as your experience develops. About You You will demonstrate a genuine interest in defendant clinical negligence work and have relevant litigation experience. You will ideally have: 1-4 years' PQE (or equivalent on-the-job litigation experience) Experience in defendant clinical negligence, via insurer or NHSR instructions Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Pre-Action Protocol for Clinical Disputes Experience handling multi-defendant claims (desirable) Openness to candidates looking to cross-qualify from defendant large loss or disease litigation An understanding of insurance law and insurer/broker/client relationships Strong analytical, tactical and attention-to-detail skills The ability to manage competing deadlines and workloads effectively A collaborative approach with the confidence to work independently A commercial, client-focused, solution-driven mindset Willingness to support business development and assist with client training and presentations Awareness of the importance of supervision and a willingness to seek guidance when needed Why Apply?
