Under the Command of Captain BRNC, the Officer Commanding RNLA has been delegated authority to deliver Leadership and Coaching training iaw 2SL’s directive. Command, Leadership and Management (CLM) and Divisional training is provided to RN personnel throughout their careers by the RNLA, principally in support of promotion, recognising that those selected will be required to exercise greater levels of leadership than hitherto. The RNLA HQ is responsible for the delivery and management of courses, training, and assurance of RNLA and associated staff. PURPOSES Primary Purposes. Deliver and manage the Naval Analysis Course (NAC) – a 1 week course delivered 15 times per year. Deliver and manage the Preparatory Advanced Command and Staff Course (Pre-ASAC) – a 1 week course delivered 3-4 times per year as per the SOTR/SOTT in Summer Term only. Deliver critical thinking training during the Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC) and the Warrant Officer Commissioning Programme (WOCP). Deliver Officer Development Pipeline training during the Heads of Department Course. Secondary Purpose. As a staff officer within RNLA, provide support to all HQ functions. As a lead for Professional Military Education in the Royal Navy engage in and lead bespoke research and policy development. Build and maintain links with key stakeholders across both training and military education domains. These include but are not limited to Training Requirements and Delivery authorities, sS Leadership Units, Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre and the Royal Naval Division within Joint Command and Staff College. Maintain high levels of currency in subjects relating to the courses owned by the Naval Tutor. Support non-delivery outputs of other courses, which includes the marking for the Warrant Officer Staff Course ILM L7 qualifications. Manage the ACSC selection process as the Academic Scrutiny Board Secretary. ACCOUNTABILITY The Naval Tutor is Accountable to : The Commander RNLA for delivery of Roles and Responsibilities. First Reporting Officer is Commander RNLA Second Reporting Officer is Captain BRNC. AUTHORITY Line Management Responsibility. Naval Tutor is authorised to: Exercise functional authority when required by Commander RNLA Exercise managerial authority over personnel when required by Commander RNLA. Liaison and Correspondence. Liaise with any internal and external bodies as necessary to achieve the post’s primary and secondary roles. Represent the Naval Service interest as it pertains to generic professional officer education at appropriate meetings/ forums, both internal and external to the Service. PRINCIPAL TASKS As Naval Tutor: Manage all NAC and Pre-ASAC course administration and course documentation. Deliver elements of NAC and the Pre-ASAC. Deliver critical thinking training when required during WOSC and WOCP Deliver Officer Development Pipeline training during HoD’s course. Build and maintain links with key stakeholders across both training and military education domains. Maintain high levels of currency in subjects relating to the courses owned by the Naval Tutor.
