Offer description

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full time (10 session) Neonatal consultant or a Paediatrician with special interest in Neonatology post in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The post holder will join the existing Neonatal Consultants' team making a total of 7 permanent Consultants. The Neonatal Unit is the Sub-regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre (SuRNICC) at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of Neonatal and Perinatal Care across North Wales, with the aim of delivering a high quality, safe and holistic service as close to the families' homes as possible. This will depend on good capacity management of the network, and on developing services in neighbouring hospitals so that early repatriation of babies no longer requiring intensive care can occur.

The post-holder will need to develop working relationships with colleagues in Wrexham and Bangor and provide any support they may require. In addition; linking with Consultants from Merseyside and North West England are also important to allow access to tertiary services not available in North Wales, e.g., Cardiac and Neonatal Surgery in Alder Hey Hospital.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is Wales's largest health organisation, with a budget of over £2.4 billion and a workforce of over 20,000 staff. The Health Board provides primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for the population of North Wales.

BCUHB provides a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute and specialist hospital services across 3 acute hospitals and a network of community hospitals, health centres, clinics, and mental health units. It also co-ordinates or provides the work of GP practices and NHS services provided by dentists, opticians, and pharmacists across the region.

The Health Board is an integrated health system that strives for excellent, compassionate care delivered in partnership with the public sector and other statutory and third sector organisations.

Candidates are encouraged to refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification for further information.

If you are ready to make a significant impact on the future of healthcare in North Wales and possess the skills and experience required for this role, we invite you to apply.
