Hays are partnering with a leading higher education institution to recruit for a Senior Buyer to join their Procurement team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Your new role
You will deliver a professional procurement service, supporting the organisation’s strategic goals through category management, value for money, and sustainable procurement practices. You’ll leadplex tenders, manage supplier relationships, ensure legalpliance, and contribute to continuous improvement across procurement operations.
What you'll need to succeed
1. A relevant degree or strong procurement experience in category management for goods, works, or services
2. Extensive experience conductingplex tenders and sourcing value for money
3. Strong contract management experience with a focus on delivering service improvements and social, economic, and environmental benefits
4. Experience using eProcurement systems
5. Soundmercial judgement and ability to work independently
6. Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
7. Strong planning, time management, and problem-solving abilities
8. Understanding of public procurement regulations and associated risks
9. Willingness to travel as required
Desirable:
10. Full or working towards CIPS membership
11. Experience delivering procurement training
12. Proven record of achieving value for money in key spend categories
