An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the successful Superdrug Supply Chain team within one of our Distribution Centres. This vacancy is based at our Southern Region Distribution Centre in Dunstable. The Transport Manager is accountable for Transport Operations, including outbound store deliveries, trunking between DCs and 3rd party hub sites for A.S. Watson brands, working with agency drivers and onsite teams to ensure excellent delivery standards for permanent and agency HGV Drivers and Driver Mates.
Responsibilities
* Ensure store deliveries arrive on time and in full, as measured by system data and store feedback, within an agreed budget.
* Inspire the Transport Team to deliver best-practice routines and logistical excellence to maximise product availability and customer satisfaction.
* Fully own Health and Safety aspects of the Transport operation; be joint O Licence holder and ensure adherence to DVSA regulations.
* Operate with Distribution colleagues and 3rd parties to maximise sales through optimised logistics; develop and implement local solutions to drive transport excellence.
* Manage security of property and transport assets through consistent delivery of agreed protocols.
* Lead and develop the on-site Transport Team; foster a positive, continuous-improvement culture.
* Deliver on-time service, proactively manage customer needs and communications for total satisfaction; collaborate with Transport Teams at other DCs, Transport Planning and Warehouse teams.
Qualifications
* Proven experience managing a transport team (essential)
* Proven experience being named and active on the Operator’s Licence (essential)
* Experience managing a sizeable or relatable HGV fleet (essential)
* Previous working as a HGV Driver (desirable)
* Ability to engage, communicate and lead a team efficiently
* Ability to plan and organise own work within parameters; persuasive and able to influence peers, team members and senior management
* Active listening; capable of presenting information clearly
* Ability to drive a culture of excellence, make sound decisions within policy, and understand profitability and key performance indicators
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills; ability to work under pressure and to deadlines; able to work unsupervised
* PC literate, numerate and analytical
