Our UK Insurance Technology practice empowers some of the biggest Insurance clients to solve their most complex business problems and transform their organisations through embedding the latest technology.
You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of Analysts, Developers, UX Designers, and Architects in the Insurance sector. You will gain exposure to leading global insurers and understand why our clients value our insights and experience.
The opportunity
As part of EY Consulting's Insurance Technology practice, you will work on engagements involving Insurance Core Platform implementations, leveraging emerging technology, and technology-enabled transformations. Our focus on EMEIA means our team spans multiple European regions, with a growth rate of approximately 30% annually.
We seek enthusiastic individuals with an agile mindset, problem-solving skills, and industry knowledge in Insurance and/or Technology Consulting to strengthen our capabilities.
Locations include: London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester.
Responsibilities, Qualifications, Certifications - External
Your key responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with clients to establish a business-driven vision for their IT systems, processes, and infrastructure.
* Creating IT strategies and architecture roadmaps, including transition stages.
* Understanding the full architecture stack: network, data, application, system, security, and integration.
* Developing artefacts for effective communication with business and technical audiences.
* Defining and documenting key design decisions.
* Coordinating with business and technical teams during solution design and delivery.
* Providing expertise in software evaluation, standards, and configurations.
* Leading practice and people development activities within EY.
* Building and leading high-performing teams.
* Supporting architecture governance and industry standards.
Skills and attributes for success
* Minimum 8 years as an Architect.
* Over 10 years in Financial Services Technology.
* Knowledge of ERD/UML and process diagrams.
* Understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
* Ability to communicate technical solutions to stakeholders.
* Experience with insurance (General, Specialty, Life).
* Technical background with experience in packages like Guidewire, Duckcreek, Pega, etc.
* Experience in architecture domains: enterprise, solution, infrastructure, security, data.
* Proven ability to deliver large-scale programs using agile and waterfall methods.
* Familiarity with cloud solutions, AI, microservices, and emerging tech.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Leadership and team management capabilities.
Minimum qualifications
* Structured thinking and communication skills.
* Insurance experience through top-tier consultancy or insurer.
* Experience as an architect, aligning with business strategy and delivering design documents.
* Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
* Experience managing cross-functional teams.
Preferred qualifications
* Familiarity with Amazon/Azure cloud stacks.
* Knowledge of TDD/BDD practices.
* Experience with blockchain, AI, microservices, and emerging tech.
* Market trend awareness and client management skills.
* TOGAF 9.1 and/or Zachman certification.
