Lyward Colley Workshops is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company offering 1:1 support and mentoring to young people who find themselves outside of mainstream education. Many of the young people that attend our workshops are challenged by special educational needs (SEN) and/or are challenged by social, emotional and mental health problems (SEMH). From our barn in Bradfield St George, we work with students in a safe and nurturing environment supporting them to develop knowledge and new skills in our different workshops. By learning from doing students develop a greater sense of autonomy and confidence in their achievements however small. Over time this directly impacts their self-belief and self-worth which alongside 1:1 mentoring guidance can help them believe that they can return to the school setting or of pursuing further education, training or employment.
We offer workshops in woodwork, music, art, horticulture, cooking, repair, life skills and academic tutoring. We are looking for an arts mentor to join our team. This role involves teaching young people basic Art skills whilst offering support and guidance through 1:1 mentoring.
