This ongoing role offers a fantastic hourly rate of £39, with both part-time and full-time options available. Job Purpose:

The Social Worker – Safeguarding Team will play a key role in safeguarding children at risk of harm. You’ll be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing interventions to protect children, while ensuring that their voices are heard and their best interests are prioritized. This role requires collaboration with multi-agency partners and a commitment to providing the best outcomes for children and families.


What You Will Do:


Child Protection and Safeguarding:

Assess risk and investigate concerns related to child protection, including neglect and abuse.

Undertake child protection investigations and assessments in adherence to statutory requirements.

Develop thorough child protection plans tailored to the needs of each child.


Case Management:

Manage a complex caseload of child protection and safeguarding cases.

Complete necessary assessments within statutory timescales.

Prepare and present reports at child protection conferences and court hearings.


Multi-Agency Working:

Collaborate with police, health professionals, and other multi-agency partners.

Attend and contribute to child protection and multi-agency meetings.


Court Work and Legal Proceedings:

Prepare court reports for care proceedings and represent the local authority in court.

Work with legal teams to ensure thorough preparation for court cases.


Safeguarding Supervision and Support:

Provide supervision and guidance to less experienced social workers on complex cases.

Engage in team meetings for ongoing professional development and learning.


Record Keeping and Compliance:

Maintain accurate and clear case records.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.


Person Specification:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Proven experience in children’s social care with a focus on safeguarding and child protection.

Strong understanding of child protection law and frameworks.

Experience conducting child protection investigations and assessments.

Experience working in a safeguarding team within a local authority.

Post-qualification experience in court work.

Knowledge of local services in Tameside.
