Overview
Glasgow City Council is pleased to present this exciting opportunity to join the Sustainability service and contribute to tackling the climate emergency in Glasgow and the City\'s leadership in the fight against climate change.
Reporting through Glasgow City Council\'s Sustainability Programme Management Office within the Sustainability service of Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, the successful applicant will support delivery of actions supporting Glasgow\'s Climate Plan, focusing on \"Greening the City\" and providing project management support to the new Carbon Sequestration and Tree Management programme. This is a 2 year Fixed Term post that will identify, progress and deliver carbon capture and climate resilience projects in support of Glasgow\'s Climate Plan through tree management, contributing to the council\'s net-zero by 2030 commitment and climate-resilient city goals.
Responsibilities
* Provide project coordination and control through engaging with stakeholders across the Council, ALEOs and external partners; collating, monitoring and developing reports, and maintaining risk and issues logs related to the Carbon Sequestration and Tree Management programme.
* Be responsible for business case development, and the oversight of delivery whilst seeking external funding to supplement funding allocated in the annual budget.
* Provide technical assistance in the assessment of suitable sites for tree planting, and support the Trees for Streets campaign.
* Develop opportunities for future greening projects, including but not limited to a green wall pilot in the City.
Qualifications
A relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification within business, project management, communications, sustainability, natural environment or engineering related fields together with experience in a programme or project management role is essential, together with a working knowledge of tree management, site surveying, and factors affecting the establishment of new trees such as microclimate, urban drainage and presence of underground features.
