Locality Manager | 9016 | Permanent Contract| 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum (Scale K) | Attleborough, Norfolk
Norfolk Library and Information Service have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our Locality Manager Team.
This role is responsible for the efficient and effective management of several libraries in the Breckland and South Norfolk localities. Working with an experienced and enthusiastic team, it will lead operational and front-line services, engage local communities and motivate staff, work towards agreed outcomes, and supervise the continued expansion of our work with volunteers. You will need to be well-organised and customer focused, able to work in an innovative, enthusiastic and flexible way.
We are looking for someone who is well-organised, with eye for detail and compliance, an excellent communicator and willing to learn on the job. You will need to be able to deal with a changing work environment, comfortable with challenge, and able to make decisions and delegate within the procedures and aims of the library service. As an active member of the Libraries Leadership Team, you will have influence on the direction of the service and be fully supported in managing budgets.
There will be a working pattern that covers Monday – Friday with evenings and occasional weekends, and travel to other locations will be required.
Responsibilities
• Manage several libraries in the Breckland and South Norfolk localities, leading operational and front-line services.
• Engage local communities, motivate staff and volunteers, and work toward agreed outcomes.
• Supervise the ongoing expansion of volunteer involvement and ensure compliance and quality of service.
• Ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused library operations; support a flexible and innovative working environment.
• Contribute as an active member of the Libraries Leadership Team, influencing service direction and assisting with budget management.
Qualifications and experience
• Well-organised with attention to detail and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn on the job.
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, handle challenges, and delegate within library procedures and aims.
• Experience working with volunteers is desirable.
