Job Type: Permanent (37.5 hours preferred but 25 hours minimum)
We are seeking a motivated and organised Bookkeeping & VAT Manager to join a hands-on role where you will manage a portfolio of clients, oversee VAT and bookkeeping processes, and support a small team of junior bookkeepers.
Key Responsibilities
* Review VAT returns, carry out quality control, and manage departmental administration
* Support the team with VAT return preparation and submissions
* Oversee VAT registrations, de-registrations, and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
* Allocate and manage team workloads to ensure deadlines are consistently met
* Provide VAT advice to colleagues and clients
* Work closely with Client Managers to ensure VAT quarters are prepared and ready for accounts
About You
* Minimum 3 years’ bookkeeping experience
* Previous practice experience is essential
* 2+ years’ experience with Xero and QuickBooks
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
* Strong attention to detail when handling financial data
* Confident and professional communication skills with both clients and colleagues
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads
