P/T Personal Assistant / Companion
Hours: 9 – 12hrs per week
Days / Hours: (Earliest start 9.30am / latest finish 8.00pm)
Days – to be discussed at interview
Rate: £13.45 – £14.59 per hour
Duties
Personal Assistants x 2 (Female) required to provide Personal Care assistance, Social Support and companionship to a young woman who lives with Multiple Sclerosis and is now wheelchair dependent. She lives in her own accommodation in the Dreghorn area. She is a very private individual and confidentiality is of utmost importance.
Personal Care
* Support with personal care including hair washing, showering, continence care, dressing, breakfast preparation and medication prompting.
* Essential hygiene housework tasks such as clearing dishes, laundry, bed making.
* Food preparation / batch cooking.
Social Support
* Shopping tasks, putting away grocery deliveries, attendance at appointments and accessing the wider community such as going to clubs, events, cinema, ten‑pin bowling, meals out.
* Assist with taking a small pet dog to the groomers or vets if required.
* Judge when to speak up on the employer’s behalf, ensuring independence.
* Maintain the employer’s confidence and independence while supporting social interaction.
Qualifications & Expectations
* Friendly, cheery, easy‑going, sociable with a genuine interest in supporting independence.
* Like animals – must be comfortable with a small friendly pet dog.
* Understanding of MS and experience working with clients with physical disabilities is desirable.
* Preferable to be a driver with a current driver’s licence, use of own car and business insurance.
* Wage rate includes travel allowance; mileage costs covered for work related travel.
* Must undergo a new PVG Disclosure at the employer’s expense and supply 2 reference contacts prior to appointment.
* 6‑month probationary period; 1 week’s notice during probation if the post does not work out.
