RESPONSIBILITIES
Traffic Management Operative (TMO) is responsible for installing, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management systems on roads. This includes setting up and taking down equipment like cones, signs, and barriers, as well as ensuring traffic flow and safety during roadworks or events. They also play a crucial role in incident management, responding to issues that arise during operation
· Setting up temporary traffic management:
TMOs install and configure various traffic management systems, including cones, signs, barriers, and other equipment, to create safe work zones.
· Following plans and drawings:
They work according to site-specific or generic traffic management plans and drawings, ensuring proper placement and adherence to safety standards.
· Maintaining traffic control:
TMOs monitor traffic flow, adjust traffic control measures as needed, and ensure the integrity of the traffic management setup throughout the duration of the work.
· Dealing with incidents and emergencies:
They respond to traffic incidents, accidents, or incursions, taking necessary actions to maintain safety and minimize disruptions.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
* Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
TMOs must wear appropriate PPE at all times, ensuring their safety and the safety of others.
* Working safely:
They prioritize safety in all their activities, following safe working methods and adhering to health and safety procedures.
* Adhering to regulations:
TMOs ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) and CDM regulations.
* Promoting safety and wellbeing:
They contribute to a culture of safety, promoting and developing health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives.
RATES OF PAY
Trainee rate- £12.00 -£13.70 per hour Skilled operatives £13.70-£23.00 per hour.
