Domestic Assistant

Harplands Hospital, Hilton Road, Stoke on Trent, ST4 6RR

Permanent hours per week based on a 3-week rota. Including weekends, earlies and lates. Shifts 0-0 hours and 0-0 hours

Salary - £,. pro rata, plus Serco benefits.

Main Purpose:

Serco Health aims to be the partner of choice in delivering Healthcare Services. We are focused on publicly funded healthcare and will support and deliver healthcare in both Hospitals and Community settings. We deliver Project Finance, Facilities Management, Service and Construction. Our core competencies are in risk management, project management, people management, working with the public sector and working safely.

To provide a high-quality food service as part of a team to both patients, staff and clients of the Hospital. Ensuring food service to patients and other customers throughout the hospital are served in a professional manner using the special menus as set by the dieticians and catering user group.

Main Accountabilities:

1. Provide and carry out general catering duties and tasks in an effective and efficient manner and in accordance with “best practice” procedures.
2. Ensuring that all meals are prepared presented and served correctly to patients in wards following set procedures and standards, liaising with nursing staff.
3. Ensure a high standard of both personal hygiene and food handling practices are adhered to.
4. Preparing meals for delivery to wards with correct dishes as ordered.
5. Disassembling meals from wards and general wash up.
6. Ensure all cleaning equipment and chemicals are used following the correct procedures, which includes “clean as you go” and COSHH.
7. Ensure the presentation of food is always attractive and to a high standard of service and customer satisfaction.
8. Ensure all work schedules are fully implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
9. Undertake duties in a safe manner, according to ‘Food Safety Management System’ and ensure that equipment is used and maintained in an appropriate manner.
10. Ensure all equipment is checked beforehand, used correctly, cleaned and stored away after use. All mechanical, electrical & physical faults on equipment should be reported.
11. Work as part of a team to provide a quality catering service around the hospital site in a friendly and purposeful manner.
12. Attend training courses both in- company and elsewhere to meet and enhance the service of the Department.
13. Always ensure a clean and tidy appearance.
14. Follow cash handling procedures.
15. Co-operate fully in ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 4.

Education

16. Good understanding & comprehension of written & verbal English
17. Good numeracy

Training

18. Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
19. Health & Safety Certificate

Experience

20. Previous experience in the catering or food services industry operating in a multi-disciplinary environment

32. Must live within easy travelling distance of the hospital
