This is where theory meets action. You won’t just code – you’ll create, test and deploy solutions that millions rely on every day. You’ll focus on engineering development and deployment, the practical build of the solutions that bring ideas to life.
One important note : if your passion lies in AI and machine learning this isn’t the scheme for you. Those roles sit within our Data Science and AI MSc Industrial Placement Scheme. Please speak to your university for further information.
Real Impact From Day One
Aligned to one platform (like Cloud Services or Digital Banking) for the period of your placement you’ll have the opportunity to join feature teams and have first‑hand experience of the software development life cycle.
You may obtain hands‑on experience in:
* Software engineering – coding in Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift.
* DevOps – building pipelines and automating releases.
* Quality Assurance – testing, refining and improving customer journeys.
This isn’t work experience. This is work that matters – from improving mobile banking journeys to strengthening customer security and delivering value to millions every day.

Requirements
What you need to apply
This new programme is part of our strategic partnership with Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester and Imperial London universities.
We welcome applications exclusively from students who will have completed a Masters Degree by September 2027 at one of the listed universities.
If you are enrolled on an integrated masters or accepted for Masters study to commence in September 2026 then please ensure you have correctly answered the application question “Are you in your penultimate year of study” as Yes.
This placement will run from April–May until September 2026; start and end dates are flexible around your course timetable.
If you do not meet these requirements then please dont worry we still have plenty of other opportunities available on our graduate website.
We strongly recommend the ability to demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this will be assessed through the application process.
* Knowledge of at least one modern programming language or framework.
* A genuine passion for technology and the drive to keep learning.
* We are unable to provide sponsorship and you must have full unlimited right to work.
Locations
Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester. With our hybrid working policy all colleagues spend at least two days a week in the office.
