Department Summary
The William Magee Center for AOD & Wellness Education (WMC) is dedicated to transforming students’ lives by providing education, intervention, and support services that enhance well‑being and foster success at the University of Mississippi. We host programming and offer services related to holistic well‑being, substance use, harm reduction, and support of students in recovery via the Collegiate Recovery Community. Our goal is to create a culture of well‑being on campus by improving access to resources and supporting students on their journey to holistic wellness.
The WMC team consists of vibrant student affairs professionals with varied experience in student affairs and mental‑health support. Role Summary
Supports wellness programming and goals to promote health and wellness for institutional and external communities. Oversees the operations of the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) under the guidance of the William Magee Center’s Assistant Director of Student Support. This role requires prior experience supporting the well‑being of students in recovery from alcohol or other drugs. Responsibilities include facilitating recovery meetings, supporting student academic success, and working with campus and community partners to promote the CRC and student well‑being.
Examples of Work Performed
* Coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) to support student recovery.
* Plan, develop, and manage a comprehensive recovery services program under guidance of the Assistant Director.
* Recommend and coordinate relevant internal and external resources to aid student retention and completion.
* Conduct individual and group recovery sessions to support CRC participants’ level of functioning.
* Facilitate regular programming for the CRC and broader campus, including social events, wellness programming, and recruitment activities.
* Collaborate with the William Magee Center, other Student Affairs offices, and campus entities to enhance the well‑being of current and future CRC students.
* Maintain administrative records and data for the program and participant records.
* Complete other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
1. Develop promotional materials, newsletters, and other marketing plans for wellness programs.
2. Evaluate and update wellness programs as necessary.
3. Answer questions about how treatment programs contribute to the greater health of the community.
Minimum Education / Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Three Years (equivalent combinations of related experience and education may be considered on a 1:1 substitution basis)
