About Us
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), funds research infrastructure to maximize the potential of administrative data for research through Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK). ADR UK engages government and academic communities to open access to administrative data and facilitate innovative research addressing societal challenges. Initially set up as a £44m pilot in 2018, it has become a long-term investment with £105m funding until 2026.
Purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Director and working with a Project Manager, you will lead monitoring and assurance of this investment, coordinate management of the ADR UK Programme Delivery Board, grant awards, and stakeholder relationships. You will work collaboratively to ensure the programme meets its aims and vision as outlined in the Full Business Case.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver assurance reviews for the ADR UK Programme, reporting findings and actions to the SRO and Programme Delivery Board.
* Support a consistent programme management approach, ensuring grant management tools are used effectively.
* Assist grant holders by identifying and resolving issues proactively.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, managing relationships effectively.
* Support the Director and Deputy Director as needed.
* Review and report on programme status to Directors and the Board.
* Lead and support the management of complex data infrastructure investments.
* Draft documents with arguments, proposals, and recommendations for various audiences.
* Analyze information from diverse sources to inform decisions.
* Line-manage staff within the Strategic Hub, supporting their objectives.
* Participate in corporate projects and support wider ESRC work.
* Manage the budget for ADR UK, including fluctuations and reporting to UKRI.

Essential skills and experience include:
* Project or programme management qualification and experience within a Programme Management Office environment.
* Understanding of data infrastructure and its importance to social science research.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
* Financial decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to foster collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
* Comfort working with ambiguity and strategic thinking.
