Our nurse and therapist led Intermediate Care Unit offers a rewarding setting, focused on rehabilitation and reablement, with six Specialist Palliative Care inpatient beds. We use a team nursing and therapy approach, delivering person-centered care, with support workers working directly alongside qualified nurses or therapists in a collaborative environment.
This Band 3 role is ideal for experienced support staff. If you are less experienced, you can start as a Band 2 Rehabilitation Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant, with a clear development pathway to progress to Band 3 through training and supervised practice.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a dedicated team of support workers trained in a range of essential clinical and care skills. Working under the supervision of registered professionals, they will provide direct, hands-on care and contribute to delivering high-quality, person-centred care that supports both rehabilitation and end-of-life needs.
You will play an active role in helping patients regain independence, as well as providing comfort and support in the final stages of life. You will be expected to deliver delegated care and clinical interventions in line with your training and competencies.
Core clinical skills
* Pressure ulcer prevention and management
* Wound care
* Catheter care and bladder scanning
* Venepuncture
* Recording clinical observations, including NEWS2 and blood glucose testing
* Supporting physiotherapy and occupational therapy programmes within your scope of practice

Unit description
The Unit presently comprises 20 intermediate care beds delivering rehabilitation and 6 Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) beds in a purpose-designed setting. For our intermediate care patients, our aims are to reduce acute hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge by utilising the skills of the multidisciplinary team of nurses and therapists. For the SPC patients we aim to provide holistic symptom management and end-of-life care.
