An exciting opportunity has arisen within BCHCFT’s Dental Division for one full-time Dental Nurse Assessor to join the School of Dental Nursing. The position is based at Birmingham Dental Hospital and involves working 37.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The main responsibility is contributing to the delivery and assessment of Dental Nursing apprenticeships.
The post holder will collaborate closely with Dental Nurse Tutors, Dental Matrons, the Dental Nurse Management Team, the Learning and Development Team, as well as clinical staff and students.
Candidates must be experienced Dental Nurses with a recognised assessment qualification and should demonstrate ongoing Continuing Professional Development. Main Duties
* Observing student work placements.
* Assessing learner portfolios and submitted evidence.
* Holding personal discussions with students.
* Implementing quality processes and identifying improvement areas.
* Conducting regular reviews as per protocol.
The assessment activities include:
* Questioning candidates to assess knowledge and handling of non-standard situations.
* Monitoring candidate progress through portfolios and evidence.
* Holding professional discussions where needed.
* Providing timely, accurate feedback on performance.
* Supporting learners in developing maths and English skills.
* Recording progress and signing off units upon completion.
* Providing detailed feedback and support after assessments.
* Maintaining detailed records and communicating with awarding bodies.
* Ensuring quality control and continuous improvement.
* Contributing to programme review and quality enhancement.
* Motivating and supporting learners throughout their programme.
* Developing assessment plans and schedules.
* Liaising with candidates and departments.
* Making assessment decisions based on evidence.
* Providing comprehensive documentation post-assessment.
* Participating in internal quality assurance and standardisation meetings.
* Liaising with the Internal Quality Assurer regarding student progress.
