About the role
We’re looking for two Senior Managers in Procurement to play critical leadership roles in shaping and delivering our strategic sourcing and outsourcing agenda across the Society.
We’re recruiting into two distinct Senior Manager portfolios:
1. Senior Manager – Technology Procurement
Leading sourcing strategies for technology, digital, data and change portfolios, partnering closely with Technology and Transformation leaders.
2. Senior Manager – Indirect Procurement
Leading indirect and corporate services procurement across functions such as People, Marketing, Professional Services, Property and Operations.
Both roles operate at enterprise scale, influence executive decision‑making, and carry accountability for major spend and supplier risk.
These are highly visible senior roles, accountable for significant spend portfolios and enterprise‑wide commercial governance. You’ll bring deep procurement and category expertise to deliver long‑term value, strengthen organisational resilience, and enable innovation through best‑in‑class sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships and commercial insight.
Working closely with Executive and senior leaders, you’ll influence third‑party strategy across the organisation and ensure sourcing decisions align with our Group Strategy and One Plan objectives.
What you’ll do
3. Lead and deliver strategic sourcing, outsourcing and supplier strategies across a complex, regulated environment, ensuring alignment with legal, risk and regulatory requirements.
4. Take accountability for a large, enterprise‑wide supplier portfolio (300+ suppliers / c.£150m annual spend), driving strong commercial governance and performance management.
5. Represent Procurement at Senior Leadership Team and Executive Committee forums, influencing third‑party strategy, supplier rationalisation, and early engagement on sourcing needs.
6. Develop and execute long‑horizon category and sourcing strategies that deliver value generation, cost optimisation, resilience and supplier‑enabled innovation.
7. Lead the consideration of outsourcing, insourcing, co‑sourcing and partnership models to support business strategy and operational effectiveness.
8. Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing Category & Sourcing team, building future capability and continuously improving ways of working.
What you’ll need
9. Senior‑level experience leading complex strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives.
10. Strong commercial and analytical capability, including category strategy, total cost of ownership modelling, cost‑benefit analysis and commercial risk assessment.
11. Extensive experience delivering large‑scale sourcing and outsourcing programmes (typically £10m+ TCV), using a range of competitive sourcing approaches (RFI, RFP, RFQ, e‑auctions).
12. Demonstrated expertise in supplier risk management, operational resilience and managing transition or migration risks.
13. Proven ability to influence Executive and Board‑level stakeholders with clear, compelling commercial insight and recommendations.
14. A strong people leader, with experience building capability, coaching others and driving a culture of commercial excellence and accountability.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to shape enterprise‑wide sourcing strategy, influence executive decision‑making, and make a tangible impact on value, resilience and commercial maturity across the organisation — while leading and developing a high‑impact procurement team.
